Parts We Carry
Most houses out in Rural Hill went up around 1988, which puts them past the old extension-spring era but before the lighter steel track sections that showed up in the 2000s. What that means for an off-track door: you're usually looking at heavier-gauge track, steel roller brackets bolted rather than riveted, and hinges sized for a thicker panel than what gets sold today. We carry standard 2-inch track sections, both flag and top brackets, sealed and unsealed rollers, and hinge sets that fit that mid-to-late-80s panel spacing. What we don't carry on the truck is the odd stuff - wood doors with custom track bends, or anything a previous owner welded together instead of bolting. If your door falls into that category, we tell you before we start, not after we've charged for the visit.
What It Costs
We don't have a set number to quote you here, and we're not going to make one up. What a repair costs depends on whether it's a bent track section that needs replacing, a bracket that needs re-bolting, or a full re-set of rollers on both sides. A door from 1988 with original hardware sometimes needs more than a track fix - if the rollers and hinges are original, we'll usually recommend replacing that hardware at the same time rather than sending a truck back out again in six months. We price the job once we've looked at it, not over the phone.
The Complications
Rural Hill sits about 19 miles out from Murfreesboro, and we don't keep a truck stationed out there - every job means a drive. That's not a problem for scheduling, but it does mean we're not the outfit to call if you need someone in fifteen minutes. With roughly 867 households in the area, it's not a high-volume route for us the way closer suburbs are, so we stock the common parts for a 1988-era door on the truck but order in anything unusual rather than guessing and hauling extra inventory we may never use. The other complication is access - a lot of these doors haven't had the track hardware touched since they were installed, so bolts can be seized and brackets can need cutting loose rather than unscrewing.
